This past weekend, more cosmetic restoration work was performed on the 1218. The rods on the front engine of the fireman’s side were sanded, primed, and then an aluminum paint finish was applied. The Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 steam engine will be fired up this weekend for its first limited-run excursion with Virginia Scenic Railway and the Virginia Museum of Transportation. The ride through the Shenandoah Valley’s fall foliage will take riders from Goshen to Staunton under the 611's steam.
