🏀On March 27, 1978 the 40th NCAA Basketball Championship Game took place from The Checkerdome in St. Louis, Missouri. The championship game was played on a borrowed court from Indiana University's Assembly Hall in Bloomington, as the arena's official floor at St. Louis Arena (The Checkerdome) was damaged by water. Led by head coach Joe B. Hall, Kentucky won its 5th national title with a 94–88 victory over Duke, coached by Bill Foster. Kentucky forward Jack Givens scored 41 points in the game an
