Mar 16, 2023 · You need HDR toggled on to use native HDR games just leave it on. Your desktop will still display in SDR and SDR games will still be SDR. Leave Auto HDR on too if a game doesn’t have native HDR well alot of games on win 11 support auto hdr which is kinda like a fake HDR but it works pretty well. Auto HDR won’t override a native HDR game

Aug 11, 2022 · Auto HDR is broken currently in WoW Dragonflight with the AW3423DWF - hdr peak 1000 mode just makes text glowing bright white and it's so uncomfortable. No settings seem to fix it, only thing that improves the situation appears to be setting the monitor to 'Display HDR' mode instead at 400 nits.

I think the impact of auto HDR on results is pretty minor in general, but you should try different scenarios yourself and see if it makes a noticeable difference to you.
