NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge put New York ahead in the first inning with his major league-leading 14th home run as part of a four-RBI night, and the Yankees routed the Baltimore Orioles 12-1 on Monday for a four-game sweep and their 14th win in 16 games.
John Sterling​, the longtime play-by-play voice of the New York Yankees, died at the age of 87, according to sports radio WFAN.
Known for his passionate home run calls, Sterling provided play-by-play for 5,631 games before retiring in 2024.
"He informed and entertained generations of fans with a theatrical and unapologetic style that was uniquely his own," the Yankees said.

Derek Jeter carved out a legendary career with the New York Yankees. In 20 years (1995 to 2014) with the organization, he totaled 11,195 at-bats, 3,465 hits, 1,923 runs scored, 260 home runs, 1,311 RBIs and 358 stolen bases.
Sterling first joined the Yankees booth in 1989 and was a fixture there until his retirement in 2024. He called 5,631 total games, maintaining a streak of 5,060 consecutive appearances until illness forced him to miss a series in July 2019.
The New York Yankees have been without slugger Giancarlo Stanton since April 24, when he last appeared in a game before suffering an injury. The 36-year-old has been on the 10-day injured list because of a calf strain and is currently working his way back.
