MLB Network insider Jon Morosi shared the latest on Munetaka Murakami, who is drawing interest from the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays.
The Boston Red Sox have interest in adding the rival Toronto Blue Jays ex-infielder as an “alternative” to their third baseman.
Third baseman Alex Bregman opted out of his contract, leaving a void in the heart of the Red Sox lineup. A reunion with Bregman is possible, as is a pursuit of longtime Mets slugger Pete Alonso, whose right-handed power bat is an obvious fit for Fenway Park’s shallow left field.
The Red Sox need to make a move to add an infielder, and the top candidate is veteran third baseman Alex Bregman. Bregman played one season with the Red Sox, but opted out of his contract this offseason. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel projected on Tuesday that Bregman would sign a massive five-year, $170 million contract in free agency this offseason.
