Former first-team All-Pro Deebo Samuel asked for a trade after a disappointing 2024 season and was given permission by the team to hunt for a trade partner. Since that news broke in early February there hasn't been much movement,

The 29-year-old told ESPN on Feb. 9 that the 49ers had granted him and agent Tory Dandy permission to find a trade sending him out of Northern California. Samuel had expressed his desire to begin a new chapter during his exit meeting with head coach Kyle Shanahan the previous month.

It looked like the San Francisco 49ers were going to run into the worst-case scenario following wide receiver Deebo Samuel’s trade request. Samuel, entering the final year of his contract, was going to require an extension from any team that traded for him.
