Long Beach is experiencing a localized typhus outbreak and an increase in infections this year, city officials said Monday.
At least 20 typhus cases have been recorded as of July 31, putting the city on track to break a 2021 record of 28 cases.
There have been localized outbreaks near Bixby Park and Junipero Beach, but cases have also been reported citywide, a Health Department official said.
