Elon Musk’s bitter falling-out with President Trump could be costly for Tesla. As long as he is persona non grata in the Trump administration, Mr. Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, will struggle to persuade Republicans not to gut climate policies worth billions of dollars to the electric car and battery company.

Though their war of words on social media has slowed, the world’s richest man and the U.S. president isn’t over yet as Trump vows to sell his Tesla.

Elon Musk’s decision to go all in on Donald Trump never made much sense. His scorched-earth approach to breaking up with Trump is even harder to square.

As Elon Musk pivots away from Washington and back to his companies including Tesla, experts say he will have to address several challenges.

"The easiest way to save money in our Budget … is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts," Trump said in a post.

Organizers had no idea how much, or how far anti-Elon Musk sentiment has spread beyond the epicenter of his influence in the US.

Milan Kovac said he was leaving to spend more time with family abroad and that his exit "has absolutely nothing to do with anything else," calling support for CEO Elon Musk "ironclad."
