Office of Buffalo Trace whiskey distillery swept into Kentucky River by mudslide
A cargo container and makeshift office for centuries-old whiskey maker Buffalo Trace slid into the Kentucky River on Monday in the wake of heavy rains and flooding, officials said.

Mudslide damages parts of Buffalo Trace Distillery
Buffalo Trace Distillery confirmed no one was killed or hurt when part of the riverbank collapsed. The scare did not stop bourbon production and the company has hired professionals to clean up the mess.

The distillery is still looking into the situation and is working with professionals to clean the area properly.

Footage shot by Louisville TV station WLKY showed the bank of the river eroded and collapsing under the pavement next to the Dry House where the distillery treats stillage or spent grains, which are left over after the fermentation and distilling process.

According to a statement, the weather-related mudslide happened on the northeast side of the distillery along the Kentucky River. We’re told crews are still assessing the situation, but they know the mudslide resulted in one cargo container and one temporary office falling into the river.
