The White House deputy chief of staff told reporters Friday that the Trump administration is “actively looking at” suspending a legal procedure that allows people to challenge a government’s decision to detain them.

Donald Trump's deputy chief of staff and DHS security adviser, Stephen Miller, who has been known for his hard-line immigration policies, told reporters at the White House driveway Friday that the administration was looking into stopping a protection that allows detained individuals to challenge their detention in court.

The Trump administration is "actively looking at" suspending the writ of habeas corpus, which is the right to challenge the legality of a person's detention by the government, senior adviser Stephen Miller said.
