Former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson hits free agency after a polarizing first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh traded a conditional sixth-round pick to the Chicago Bears for three-year starter Justin Fields who then led the team to a 4-2 start. At that point, the Steelers replaced Fields with eight-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson on league-minimum contract after the Denver Broncos cut him last offseason.

Scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, 36, two days after the season ended, told reporters Monday that he wanted to remain with the Pittsburgh Steelers, adding that "I think there's a lot more to do.
