Corey LaJoie badly wanted to be a part of the field for Sunday’s 67th running of the Daytona 500. How bad? Well, according to Jenna Fryer of The Associated Press, LaJoie was willing to gamble his kids’ college fund to secure a seat.

Corey LaJoie so badly wanted to race in the Daytona 500 that he gambled his children's college fund to secure a seat in “The Great American Race.” LaJoie was let go last season from Spire Motorsports and closed out the year driving the final six races with Rick Ware Racing with no promise of 2025 work.

Corey LaJoie admitted he forked over his kids' college fund in January to secure his Daytona 500 ride with Rick Ware Racing. Why did he do this? Because having a shot to compete in the Daytona 500 is that important.
