The transfer portal has been open for a few days, and the Florida Gators have been active. Head coach Jon Sumrall has already received a couple of commitments in the transfer portal, and more are expected to come quickly with the biggest being quarterback Aaron Philo from Georgia Tech.

After weeks of speculation Florida football running back Jaden Baugh has announced his intention to return to Gainesville on Tuesday, Jan. 6. “Being a Gator means everything to me," Baugh told Florida Victorious.

The Florida Gators were big winners on Tuesday as the Texas Longhorns failed to secure a superstar weapon for Arch Manning.

The FBS transfer portal opened Friday, Jan. 2, and runs through Jan. 16, a window in which players can officially be in contact with other schools. Florida players who are in the portal can re-sign with UF during that time or choose to sign with other schools.

After beating Georgia at home to get square at 1-1 in SEC play the Florida Gators will now welcome to Gainesville one of the top teams in the league in the Tennessee Volunteers. Before the season the Vols were picked to finish third in the SEC and while they haven’t exactly played up to expectation with an 11-4 record (1-1 in the SEC) they are still one of the teams that could compete for the top of the league and the meeting with Florida is a chance for both teams establish just where they sit in the pecking order.

The Longhorns have already landed portal commitments from Michigan State tight end Michael Masunas, Arkansas defensive lineman Ian Geffrard, Memphis kicker Gianni Spetic, Florida State punter Mac Chiumento and New Mexico long snapper Trey Dubuc.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, former Florida Gators wide receiver Eugene Wilson has committed to the LSU Tigers. Lane Kiffin has attacked the NCAA transfer portal hard early in the cycle, especially at wide receiver.
