SAN JOSE — A man’s body was found inside a recreational vehicle as the city was preparing to tow it away as part of a mass clearing of a Columbus Park encampment Monday morning, according to San Jose police.

As San Jose begins sweeping its largest homeless encampment in Columbus Park, people who have accepted offers of shelter will be safe from having their vehicles towed until space opens up.

One large camp, in Columbus Park, is scheduled to be dismantled beginning Monday. But some who live there say it feels like the city has been funneling homeless people there for years.
