The first woman to serve as lieutenant governor of New York has died. Mary Ann Krupsak was 92 when she died at home in Geneva, New York, on Saturday.

Mary Anne Krupsak, New York's first female lieutenant governor and a trailblazer in state politics, died on December 28, 2024, at her home on Seneca Lake, according to an obituary posted by her loved ones.

She was the first woman elected lieutenant governor in the state after defying party leaders and her eventual running mate, Hugh Carey, to win the nomination.
