Knobs on ranges can be unintentionally activated, an issue that has proved a hazard with other brands, safety agency says.

Approximately 500,000 LG electric ranges sold over the last decade have been recalled because of an increased fire risk caused by front-mounted knobs. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission,

LG Electronics has recalled 500,000 electric ranges after dozens of fires, injuries and even the deaths of pets. The ranges, which have front-mounted knobs, can be accidentally turned on, causing a fire hazard.
