There is a growing signal for winter weather across the Southern U.S. for the coming weekend. This could include at least parts of North Carolina on Saturday and Sunday.
We are a few days out, so expect changes, but a wintry system is likely to push into the lower Ohio River and Tennessee River Valley with a mix of snow/ice chances.

The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 9:09 p.m. EST on Monday in effect until Tuesday at 7 a.m. EST for Keweenaw and Houghton counties.
A winter weather advisory is still in effect Sunday night for areas across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, with meteorologists warning of slippery travel, low visibility and lingering snow in some locations.
