COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) - Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky Friday morning ahead of a major winter storm expected to bring heavy snow and ice amid dangerous cold to most of the state. This activates the state’s emergency response and price gouging laws to protect Kentuckians.
Kentuckiana is gearing up for a round of winter weather this weekend with cities and residents preparing ahead of potential snowfall.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Kentuckiana Saturday morning through Monday morning as heavy snow and ice accumulate.
A major winter storm is expected to affect Kentucky from Friday night through Monday morning, with up to 15 inches of snow in much of the
Gov. Andy Beshear made the declaration on Friday. The state’s Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort will activate at 7 a.m. Saturday.
