ANKARA, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Turkey is evaluating all aspects of potential measures that may be taken in the event of a conflict between its neighbour Iran and the United States, a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters on Wednesday.

GENEVA/BEIRUT, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Israel ⁠has ⁠warned Lebanon that it would strike the ⁠country hard, targeting civilian infrastructure including the airport, in the event that Hezbollah gets ​involved in any U.S.-Iran war, two senior Lebanese officials said on Tuesday.

The gambit was successful. At least twice, the president weighed ordering an attack on Iran, only to be dissuaded by aides from moving forward. But America now appears to be on the brink of war with Iran again. And this time, instead of acting as a deterrent, the Pentagon’s war plans are being used to draw up options for the president to consider.

DUBAI, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Ali Shamkhani, who taunted Israel after being pulled alive from the rubble of his Tehran home following a strike in June 2025, has survived at the centre of Iranian policy-making during its most testing military confrontations and diplomatic endeavours.

Iran’s supreme leader is facing one of the most consequential decisions of his more than 30 years in power this week: strike a deal with President Trump to severely limit the country’s nuclear program or risk an all-out war with the United States and Israel.

Dr. Lynette Nusbacher told The Jerusalem Post that the US prepared for targeted air strikes if Tehran failed to negotiate in good faith, as Iran sought an interim deal to shield its missile program.

American officials, she writes, have been “bewildered” by Iran’s refusal to concede to demands on its nuclear program, even in the face of war with a more powerful country that could end in the overthrow — or even the death — of the Islamic Republic’s leadership.

President Donald Trump is not asking Iran to give up anything it currently has, and in return he is willing to give Iran almost everything it doesn’t have.
