The stock market went into the red upon open on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, dragged down by mid and small cap healthcare, real estate, and consumer durables stocks. The market had experienced a severe crash in the previous trading session.

The turmoil in the Indian equity market shows no signs of relief, as it extended its losing streak to a sixth consecutive session, with small and midcap stocks bearing the brunt of the decline. The continuous selling pressure over the past two months has pushed the broader market into bear territory,

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,187 level, a premium of nearly 35 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Sensex crashed more than 850 points on Wednesday (Feb12) to slip below 76,000. At 10:30 AM, Sensex was down 716 points or 0.94 per cent at 75,576. The Nifty 50 index traded 212 points or 0.92 per cent lower at 22859.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex dropped 1018.20 points or 1.32 per cent to settle at Rs 76293.60. The NSE Nifty declined 309.80 points or 1.32 per cent to close at Rs 23071.80.
