The first F1 car of 2025 to hit the track was the McLaren MCL39 which Australian Oscar Piastri will race in Melbourne next month. McLaren is the first F1 team to reveal its 2025 title challenger with its new car – the MCL39 – taking to the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom before its racing debut at next month’s Australian Grand Prix.

With two drivers both believing they are ready to win a world championship, McLaren is no longer carrying the underdog tag.

Reigning F1 constructor world champions McLaren were put on the back foot by the stunning performance of Oscar Piastri in 2024, insists Bernie Collins. In his second season, Piastri proved a strong challenger to established teammate Lando Norris, who eventually finished behind four-time victor Max Verstappen in the drivers’ standings.
