Davis Thompson's 10-foot birdie on the 18th hole Saturday helped stake him to a one-shot lead in the John Deere Classic.

Thompson made a 10-foot birdie putt on 18 to grab a 4-under 67 on a much tougher golf course for a one-shot lead.

"Nice to kind of have some momentum going into (Sunday)," Thompson said. Thompson, aiming for his second career victory, withstood windy conditions at TPC Deere Run to move to 15-under 198. He's up one shot on David Lipsky,
