AHMEDABAD, India (AP) — Indian investigators on Friday recovered the digital flight data recorder, or the black box, of the Air India flight that fell from the sky and killed 241 people on board and several people on the ground, authorities said.

The victim, identified as Jimmie L. Slater, 86, was critically injured after his 2018 Nissan Altima was struck by a 2022 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer. The tractor-trailer was driven by Meyoni T. McClain, 25. Slater was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, ALEA said.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI — A woman died after a two-vehicle crash in Southwest Michigan, police said. Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, two vehicles crashed on M-40 near 64th Avenue in Antwerp Township, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said. A 64-year-old Lawton woman was killed in the crash, police said.

The extent of the injuries wasn't immediately clear and police don't know when the intersection will reopen, but police are urging people to avoid the area and seek detours.
