Legacy search brand Yahoo has been working on its own web browser prototype, and says it would like to buy Google’s Chrome if the company is forced by a court to sell it.

Yahoo has reportedly expressed a strong interest in acquiring the Chrome web browser if the court mandates its divestiture.

Provost says that if Yahoo is able to acquire Chrome, the company’s search market share would push to double digits from the current 3 per cent. He said that while Chrome would cost tens of billions, Yahoo’s parent company Apollo Global Management would help it secure the funds.
