President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan argued Monday that it was necessary to deploy hundreds of Marines to Los Angeles to quell immigration protests that are happening in the city – despite local officials saying it’s unclear why they are there or what they are doing.

Despite relative calm returning to the anti-ICE detention protests in Los Angeles, the Trump administration's border czar Tom Homan says the hundreds of troops ordered by the president do not have a specific withdrawal order.

The president said during a 2020 interview that he had to “go by the laws” and couldn’t call in the National Guard unless a governor requests it.
